Water Temp: 80 F
Boat/ Crew: Showtime (Capt. Wagner and DM Andrea), Another Time (Capt. Kerry and DM Joe)

This week we had the pleasure of having Tanya Burnett with us, the famous and talented underwater photographer from Sport Diver Magazine.

We had an incredible week of diving. We started off the week on Sunday at Jack Neal Beach where we saw a huge Sting Ray followed by a Spotted Eagle Ray at Silver Gardens. This week we saw a lot of Smooth Trunkfish, more than usual, at almost every dive site, and some were even displaying signs of mating behavior. On Monday we went to Sticky Outy and saw a big red Seahorse, a Green Moray Eel and Moon Jellies. The guests loved the site so much, we came back for a night dive and saw a Scorpionfish and a ton of Cryptic Teardrop Crabs on the Barrel Sponges. On Tuesday we went to the famous Pinnacle on the North side of the island. As soon as we submerged we saw a Hawksbill Turtle! During the surface interval the captains took us out to the open ocean to search for Whalesharks and we found a juvenile of 15 ft long at Frank's Bank!!! What an incredible creature!!! For the afternoon dive we went to Light House where we saw a rare segmented Pipefish with spines sticking out from each of the segments. We also saw a Toadfish and a Quillfin Blenny. On Wednesday we went to Labyrinth and saw a weird tube worm that doesn't even appear in the books.

Thursday was a great day!! We saw more than 100 dolphins, we even saw 2 of them mating, it was incredible!! Also we went to Raggedy Cay and saw 5 Eagle Rays and a Porcupine fish. Then we went to Diamond Cay and saw another Porcupine fish. After the 2 morning dives, both of the boats went to the Utila Cays to have lunch at the famous Fish Burger Restaurant. For the afternoon we went to Big Rock and saw 2 Seahorses, 3 Sailfin Blennies and 3 Slender Filefish. We finished off the week on Friday at Jack's Bight where we saw a Nurse shark, it was a great way to end the week.

It was an amazing and memorable week, the guests really enjoyed the diving and seeing all the marine life the ocean has to offer. This is a reminder to all of us to take care more and more of the amazing coral reefs, if we want the next generation to see it.

Water Temperature: 82F
Suggested Wetsuit: 3mm Shortie
Captain Wagner and DM Adam on the Show Time
Captain Kerry and DM Joe on the Another Time
Captain Noa and DM Andrea on the Manta

An interesting question this week - "After you see 5 eagle rays on one dive, do you point out the next 6 you see that dive?" YES! And you keep pointing them out all week long! Also making special appearances this week: Octopus - and not just on night dives. One crazy octopus put on a show as it walked (that's the best way to describe it) across the sand. A curious and somewhat aggressive green moray swam around black hills and right on up to the video camera - we are hoping for a copy of that one. In addition, there were a couple of new slugs and shrimp that we are still trying to identify. Add all that up with all of our favorite creatures in attendance this week: squid, turtles, seahorses, stingrays, king crabs, neck crabs, slender filefish, lobsters, spotted drums, barracuda... and it made for one great week.

This week we have a guest blogger!

Water Temp: 80*. Better described by Bill Cannady, "It's so cold I have an inny"......
Boat: Show Time
Crew: Capt "Rasta" Kerry, and DM "Pirate" Joe

Erik Jensen of Dive Adventures, Bradenton, Florida reporting from Laguna Beach Resort. I am the guest blogger this week because I have the ability to tell much bigger lies than Megan. After all, she does try to convey some generally true facts for all of you to read, but I never let facts get in the way of a good story.

Weather conditions for our dives Sunday and Monday had a bit of breeze blowing through, so the Dive Adventures group opted to go into town Monday afternoon rather than dive. Capt Kerry and DM Joe were exceptional tour guides, and we cruised all over town before settling at the Tranquila Bar. Great afternoon getting to know the locals and touring the small but bustling town.

Tuesday we dove Blackish Point, West End, and Little Bight. Saw Spotted Morays, Turtles, several Spotted Drum, and a nurse shark. Dove Labyrinth on Wednesday, very good diving, but the highlight of the day was lunch at the Cayes with Capt "Rasta" Kerry and DM "Pirate" Joe. Kerry's mom baked a chocolate cake for the group, which was exceptional! When you arrive at LBR, I encourage everyone to ask about arranging a lunch on the Caye!

Thursday was an opportunity to see the tube sponge spawn. Interesting, and it provided a target rich environment for the people shooting video and pictures. Jodi wrote "sponge sex" on the chalkboard provided to give divers an idea what was spotted. This may have given people the wrong impression of our group, because all of the other guests avoided us the rest of the day. Friday morning we dove the Haliburton and got great video of the resident Green Moray. Afternoon dive at Airport Caves gave everyone a chance to experience some great swim throughs, and was an excellent way to end the week of diving.

On Friday afternoon (being gluttons for punishment) Capt Kerry and DM Joe once again took us into town. Started at Rehab, and did our best to spend all of the remaining Lempira everyone had accumulated. Moved on to Tranquila Bar because we still had money. An unfortunate lapse in judgment caused Barry to jump off the top deck to test water depth. No one got arrested.

Eventually Capt. Kerry and DM Joe got everyone back on the boat so we could enjoy the party at the LBR pool bar. The Dive Adventures educational staff spent a few minutes recognizing everyone that had upgraded their certificaitons during the week, and Capt Kerry presented Chris and Darryl with their freshly printed NAUI Dive Master certificates.

Anyone reading this should pick up the phone immediately and book your week at Laguna Beach Resort! The resort has the best staff you will ever find, and the diving is almost as good as the people!

This Week at LBR:
Water Temp - 78F
Boat: Another Time
Crew: Captain Wagner & DM Adam
At the beginning of this week our guests let us know that as long as they saw a whale shark they would be happy. Although we were unable to provide the sighting this week we are confident that everyone still left happy. For most people the highlight of the week was when one of the divers almost sat on a stargazer - scaring it out of hiding. The stargazer amazed us with its beauty and its ability to burrow in the sand in 1 second flat with just a swish of its body. At Jack Neil Point we watched a swimming swimming crinoid - a very neat sight. And apparently the magic number this week was three: 3 turtle spottings, 3 green moray eels at Eagle Ray Alley, 3 sea horses at Little Bight, 3 stingrays, 3 eagle rays...
